This article is about the Item. For the Enemy, see Sensor (Enemy).

The Sensor,(TotK)[name references needed] also known as the Sheikah Sensor,(BotW | HWAoC)[1][name references needed] is a recurring Item in The Legend of Zelda series.

Location and Uses

Breath of the Wild

The Sheikah Sensor is used to locate Ancient Shrines in Breath of the Wild. It can be unlocked either by activating any Sheikah Tower after leaving the Great Plateau or in the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab by repairing the Sheikah Slate. When Link is near an Ancient Shrine, the Sheikah Sensor will beep louder. It can be upgraded to the Sheikah Sensor + in order to detect object other than Ancient Shrines.

Tears of the Kingdom

The Sensor is used to locate Shrines of Light in Tears of the Kingdom. It is obtained by speaking to Robbie at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab during the "Hateno Village Research Lab" Side Adventure. When Link is moving in the direction of a nearby Shrine of Light, it will beep louder, and it will display a message indicating if the Shrine of Light is directly above or below Link. It can be upgraded to the Sensor + to be used to detect objects that have been registered in the Hyrule Compendium.

Trivia

  • The Sensor and its upgraded counterparts are both internally considered items in Tears of the Kingdom, under the names Obj_SheikSensor and Obj_SheikSensorLv2. However, both have a special property set that prevents them being displayed in the Inventory.
