Biography

Breath of the Wild

Tye is wandering the wilderness of Lanayru just South of the Wetland Stable. His wife Sorelia is traveling with him and the two have set up a ramshackle tent at the edges of the unnamed forest, where they also have a Campfire and a Cooking Pot. The campfire sends up a pillar of smoke that can be seen from far away, making them easier to locate.

The couple are out searching for a Silent Princess flower, although neither have seen it in person,[4][5] and the trip has cost them a few fruitless months of effort.[6] Tye had originally been planning to go on his own, only for his wife to refuse to be left behind.[7] Although he never intended for her to join him, her presence only brings him joy.[8] Still, he has concerns over being able to properly protect her and has decided to redouble his efforts to keep her safe.[9][10] Their goal is to pledge their love to each other with a freshly picked blossom so that they may live a happy life together.[11]

When Link first encounters them, they are always under attack by a group of Blue Bokoblins and require saving. Once the threat has been dealt with, the couple goes to rest at their small camp, with Sorelia taking the tent and Tye crouching just outside of it. It it here that they explain why they are risking their safety out in the countryside in spite of the danger.[12][13]

Trivia

  • In Breath of the Wild, Tye and Sorelia only seem to exist when they are being attacked. Once they are saved and Link moves far enough away from their spot, they disappear until the Bokoblins return.
